im a huge television buff, and im currently studying at college and hoping to eventually go on to study screen writing at university, but my problem is, is Television getting worse? or is it just because im getting older, because i cant seem to enjoy it as much as i used to when i was in my teens, im 21 now, and when i was about 15, i LOVED shows like Buffy, 24, Lost, Angel. i was huge fan of Lost during its first season, because it was so original and i loved the whole idea of everyweek you get too see the background of one of the characters before the crash and i loved 24, how every episode ended with a cliffhanger that you was just dieing to see what happens the next week, but these days it seems asthough TV is too predictable, and when it isnt, i look at in a way of "that could have been done so much better" for example, 'Dexter', i consider this to be one of the only decent shows about at the moment, and at the end of season 6, his sister Deb finds out hes a killer, and that was the most anticipated moment of the whole series, and i looked at it, and i did like it, but i just thought "even though it was good, it could have been ALOT better" epesically cos of how anticipated it was. i dont know if its because i want to be a writer i look at everything and think "i could do that so much better" i hope not, but i just miss the feeling of being so gripped by television, because to me, growing up, tv had that control over me, as i do have such a passion for it, i just want to be able to give that back, thats why i want to be a writer so badly. i dont want you to think that i need to watch more "because there is good stuff out there" because i do, i am a fan of lots of current shows, i just dont find them as gripping as i did shows a few years ago, for instance 'House' is a fantastic show, i just doesnt have that "HOLY F**K" feeling to it haha so whats your opinion(s)? has television gotten worse over the past decade? or am i going crazy?...
